Sonko speaks of dad's sweet, tender memories in 2nd anniversary

Dad, your memories of love will remain a guiding light to us, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko says as he celebrates father's anniversary.

Sonko who was sworn in as the governor last month said his father's love was a wonderful gift from God and a pillar of strength.

Gideon Kioko Kivanguli died on September 6 and was buried at Mua Hills, Machakos county.

"You slid into eternity. Time stood still but it can never erase your presence in our lives. Death may end life but not a relationship," Sonko said in his message on Wednesday.

Sonko said the Kioko family cherish his dedication, kindness, wisdom, and generosity.

"As a leader and for everything you were physically and still are in our hearts you memories linger, sweetly, tenderly, fondly and truly. We miss you dearly," he said.

Noting that his life was a blessing to them, Sonko said the memory of his deeds was a treasure.

"Your passing left a void beyond words and your absence a pain beyond measure.Although physically gone, you have always been a tough aways from us," he said.

During his burial, Sonko dissolved his Sonko Rescue Team and said he will donate all the vehicles, including the ambulances, to the county government.

Sonko said his father’s demise increased his humility and the biggest problem in the country is leaders who do not respect each other yet they were all elected by the same people.

More on this: I will work with Kidero for city's good, says Sonko
