Former NSSF boss Murimi Murage feted at memorial service

A memorial service in honour of the late former NSSF chairman Murimi Murage was held on Friday with calls for Kenyans to emulate his legacy.

Speaking at the service in Lavington United Church, TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja lauded the constitutional and governance expert for not only being a constitution defender but also a great believer in the rule of law.

"At a time we have a lot to deal with in our country, we should emulate Murimi by upholding the law. We should have politics based on competition of ideas and we should not allow anyone to divide Kenyans," Sakaja said.

Sakaja's sentiments were shared by the Auditor General Edward Ouko who said that Murimi believed in the prudent usage of public resources.

Speaking at the same event, Narc-Kenya chairperson Martha Karua said, "Murimi gave his best in everything that he did because of his love for the country. We should emulate him because we have a blessed country but don't seem to realise."

Murimi, who passed away on June 14 after a short illness, will be laid to rest on Saturday at Kaurai road, Kiserian.

Apart from holding the chairman's post at NSSF, Murimi was also the CEO and Team Leader of JMG Strategy Innovations Ltd.
