The Mueller Report

U.S. Rep Rick Crawford
by Rick Crawford: On March 22, Robert Mueller submitted his report to Attorney General William Barr. Days later, the Attorney General released a topline summary verifying what House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) had determined at the conclusion of its own Russian interference investigation a year earlier- the Trump campaign had not colluded with Russia. Our president is not a Russian agent, and he allowed Special Counsel Mueller and his $25-plus million taxpayer funded investigation unprecedented access into the inner workings of his campaign and the White House. This all stands in stark contrast to what Chairman Adam Schiff has been saying for years.

Before the President even took office, Schiff peddled now disproven conspiracy theories against President Trump to further his own political agenda and celebrity. Schiff publicly advocated for any Russian collusion lie- no matter how absurd. Almost daily, Schiff would appear on primetime news and break with the norms of the House Intelligence Committee - saying that "There's plenty of evidence of collusion." Schiff has also become a regular on cable news networks, accusing the president and his family of the ultimate crime against this country and its people - treason.

Members of HPSCI are granted the privilege of access to highly sensitive and classified information to perform their duties overseeing the intelligence community. Time and time again, Schiff would imply that through his role on the Committee he had seen evidence of collusion that the general public didn't have access to. He used his position to broadcast misinformation across the country, only intensifying the hate and division Russian operatives attempted to spread during the 2016 election.

Losing access to classified information, stepping down as chairman of the Intelligence Committee, and even resignation are all justifiable outcomes for Schiff's reckless behavior. His conduct on the most sensitive Committee in the House cannot go unpunished, or it will set a precedent encouraging the weaponization of classified information for political gain. Chairman Schiff must resign.
