She Said What, Conservatives Fight Back, Left-wing Extremism, Bibi Wins Again

Rep. Ilhan Omar, who has created controversy recently for her anti-Semitic remarks, is back in the news, and you'll never believe what she said this time. Okay, maybe you will.

Speaking at a fundraising dinner for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) last month, Omar said this:

"CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something, and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties."

Some people did something? Well, that's a pretty vague and, frankly, offensive description of what happened on 9/11. But Omar also has her facts wrong. CAIR was founded in 1994, not 2001.

Her speech to a room full of Muslims would have been an ideal opportunity for Omar to say something like this:

"Then came the horrible morning on 9/11 when thugs abusing my religion killed 3,000 of my fellow Americans. I want to make it clear that those terrorists do not represent Allah."

Now that would have been welcome news. She could have extricated herself from much of the controversy she has caused lately.

So why didn't she say that? Does she think the Mossad carried out the attack? Does she think Bush did it?

I think those are legitimate questions that Rep. Omar should answer given the prevalence of anti-Semitic 9/11 conspiracy theories in certain quarters. (Here and here.)

Conservatives Fight Back
There were several important hearings on Capitol Hill yesterday. I am pleased to report that conservative leaders and administration officials aggressively fought back against incredible left-wing demagoguery.

Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) excoriated Attorney General Bill Barr for his "unacceptable handling" of the Mueller report. But Barr was unflappable in the face of her outrageous accusations.

She said it was "extraordinary" that he could evaluate hundreds of pages regarding a two-year investigation "in less than 48 hours." She found that "more suspicious than impressive." In other words, Lowey was embracing the left's latest conspiracy theory and accusing the attorney general of participating in a cover-up.

Barr shot back, telling Lowey, "The thinking of the special counsel was not a mystery to the people at the Department of Justice." Barr said that he had been briefed by Mueller's team for "a preliminary discussion about the report."

By the way, Attorney General Barr told senators today that he is concerned about possible unauthorized spying on the Trump campaign, which he said would be "a big deal."

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Maxine Waters, chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, got into a heated exchange over the amount of time that she kept him in the hearing.

The Treasury secretary may not be a high-profile position, but it is very important and Mnuchin was scheduled to meet with a foreign leader. Mnuchin told Waters:

"If you'd wish to keep me here so I don't have my important meeting and continue to grill me, then we can do that. I will cancel my meeting and I will not be back here."

Waters said, "Please cancel your meeting and respect our time." Clearly, she had no respect for Secretary Mnuchin's time.

After more back and forth, Waters told Mnuchin he was free to go, at which point he suggested that she close the hearing by banging her gavel. "Please do not instruct me as to how I am to conduct this committee," Waters retorted.

Candace Owens was on Capitol Hill to testify at a hearing about hate crimes and white nationalism. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) used his time to try to convince us that Owens was a black Nazi. She hit back hard. If you haven't seen their exchange, it is worth watching!

Kudos to these conservatives for fighting back with passion!

Left-wing Extremism
Code Pink protestors were at yesterday's House hearing on hate crimes. One of them held up a sign that read, "Candace Owens is a Hitler defender." The graphic on her shirt read, "I love Palestinian Human Rights." Apparently she was completely oblivious to the irony.

"Palestine" doesn't actually exist. But if it did, it would be another Jew-hating nation dedicated to destroying the only Jewish nation in the world. Hitler would be quite at home in a future "Hamastan."

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thinks she knows what is causing the crisis at the southern border. Climate change. That's absurd. We're constantly being told that every hurricane and major weather disaster that strikes America is caused by climate change. Don't the migrants know they are putting their lives at risk by coming here?

But if that's really the case, then AOC should change her position on climate change because she's all in on open borders.

The Texas State University student government voted this week to ban the conservative student group Turning Point from campus. The resolution claimed that Turning Point created "hostile work and learning environments through a myriad of intimidation tactics." Really?

If you want to see a hostile environment and intimidation tactics, check out the progressive lynch mob that was waiting for Stormi Rodriquez, the TSU Turning Point president, when she left the student government meeting.

Bibi Wins Again
Yesterday's election results in Israel have stunned reporters around the world. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not only survived the hard-fought campaign, winning a historic fifth term, his Likud Party appears to have expanded its representation in the Knesset from 30 to 35 seats.

The center-left Blue and White Party, led by former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid, also won 35 seats in the Knesset. But five conservative and religious parties won 30 seats, giving Netanyahu's coalition a clear majority of 65 of the 120 seats in the Knesset.
