Hillary 4.0: A New, Better, Bigger Loser for 2020

by Sam Thomas: A pair of former Clinton advisors penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal this week to warn the world about "Hillary 4.0", the newest recreation of Hillary Clinton in her quest for the White House. Apparently getting beaten by a relative political newb in 2008, and a literal political newb in 2016, wasn't enough to make Hillary rethink her Presidential ambitions. As a great philosopher once said, if at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking til you do succeed.

Get ready for Hillary Clinton 4.0. More than 30 years in the making, this new version of Mrs. Clinton, when she runs for president in 2020, will come full circle—back to the universal-health-care-promoting progressive firebrand of 1994. True to her name, Mrs. Clinton will fight this out until the last dog dies. She won't let a little thing like two stunning defeats stand in the way of her claim to the White House. The theory doesn't seem too far fetched, to be completely honest. The 2020 field is sure to be a crowded clown show, with one candidate already announcing. Historically large fields benefit the candidate with the most name ID, like Romney in 2012 and Trump in 2016. With Booker, Harris, Warren et al battling it out for the socialist-nutjob-outsider lane, Clinton's name ID and establishment support would likely be enough to separate her from the pack. It's also hard to imagine Joe Biden, the only candidate that could potentially take Hillary's lane, jumping into a race that doesn't leave him with a clear path to the nomination. It seems entirely plausible that if Hillary does run, she could be the nominee.

It would be intriguing to watch a Clinton v Trump rematch. By intriguing, I mean I will probably disappear into the mountains for 6 months, completely disconnected from the outside world, only to return on election night to watch the talking heads at CNN and MSNBC cry on live television. The last showdown between Trump and Clinton was so painful to watch, I don't think I could possibly do it again. As bad as 2016 was, 2020 is poised to be even worse.

Keep in mind that "Hillary 4.0" will likely be even more liberal, polarizing, and unbearable. While Hillary 3.0 bored us with her hawkish policies regarding US involvement in Syria, Hillary 4.0 would be stoking the Resistance Mobs, complaining about stolen elections, and giving away all kinds of free goodies. Hold on to your butts folks, 2020 is coming, and it's going to be a wild ride.
