President Trump's Expulsion of Russian Diplomats

by Rep. Rick Crawford: On March 4th, former double-agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter were admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Test results showed that exposure to a nerve agent developed by Russia was the cause of their severe medical condition. Substantial evidence indicates that Russia was responsible for planting this military-grade poison on U.K. soil. This act of Russia put the lives of whomever came in contact with the poison, including first responders, at risk.

As a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, I have seen first hand the threat Russia poses to our national security. From meddling in the 2016 election to poisoning people of other nations it is evident that Russia is one of the biggest foreign threats to our country, and the U.S. has a responsibility to protect its own people from such threats.

This week, the President joined many of our European allies in expelling one of the largest number of Russian diplomats in history. I applaud this immediate and appropriate response. With many nations of the world at our side, I think it is prudent that we are finally treating Russia's behavior as the real threat that it is.
