The Council of Governors has refuted claims they boycotted Mutahi Kahiga's swearing-in as Nyeri Governor on Monday.
Kahiga, who was Deputy Governor, was sworn in as the fourth county chief following the death of Wahome Gakuru after a road accident last week.
None of the 46 governors witnessed the inauguration that followed prayers.

But CoG director of communication Andrew Teyie said: "The council was invited to the ceremony on Sunday evening. However, due to the short timing of the ceremony, the council registered its apologises."
In a statement on Tuesday, Teyie sai chairman Josepht Nanok (Nanok) was also away on official duty and could not make it.
"Nanok is out of the country on official duty but has congratulated his brother Kahiga. The CoG fully supports Kahiga and is wholly involved in planning Gakuru's funeral planning," he said.
The director further said the council is non-partisan and supports all 47 counties.
"We urge all to stick to the issue at hand as the council lays to rest one of its members."
Kahiga was inaugurated in a colourful ceremony filled with ululations, claps and whistling.
Wearing a grey suit, blue shirt and a striped tie, he greeted dignitaries who included Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen. Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri attended the prayers.
Gakuru, 51, was on his way to Nairobi for a morning talk show at Kameme TV when his vehicle was involved in an accident near Kabati on Thika-Muranga highway. He was only in office for about 90 days as he was elected in the August 8 general election.
He was a governor aspirant in the 2013 race but lost to the late Nderitu Gachagua.
