KOT lectures Mutahi Ngunyi over 'charge Maraga with treason' remarks

Chief Justice David Maraga should be charged with treason, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has said.

He made the remarks after Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu withdrew a petitionbefore the JSC seeking to remove Maraga.

Ngunjiri made the move days after the Supreme Court nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory in the August 8 general election.

"Who will police Maraga? How will Maraga be policed? If Ngunjiri proves his case, Maraga should be charged with high treason," he tweeted on Friday evening.

With 331 retweets, 500 comments and 814 likes, Ngunyi received negative reactions from his followers.

"Mr. Fake Professor, Sir; please explain to us where this beast called "high treason" is found in our laws before you lay the charges," Miguna Miguna‏ said.

Omar Ahmed Ali‏ said "Today you have proven to a tribalist of the highest order. Who polices US Supreme Court? tell us Profesa Ngunyi, enlighten us Mwalimu (sic)."

Dawood Idenya‏ said "Uhuru has now sent Ngunyi to bark at Maraga after pretending to withdraw Ngunjiri's petition."

"The CJ was acting within the confines of law. Never can intimidating him arm twist a ruling," John jeff‏ said.

Patricia M said "Charged for what? You have not been charged for the NYS and you want others charged."

"But the grounds for removal of CJ are explicitly clear. Ngunjiri's motivation was conceived in drinking chatter," Soeni‏ said.

Ayega Bonface‏ said "That was a planned move by UhurRuto so that Uhuru asks him to withdraw. Well orchestrated to Blackmail Kisii's that Uhuru is a good person."

Amos Kitui Kaburu‏ said "True. This petition should be allowed to prove how empty headed Ngunjiri and can company can get. Cheap publicity. They tried on Auditor Gen."

"Always the person standing with truth is the being prosecuted and the real thieves busy walking free why why why in kenya," Hussein Mahmud Tweb‏ said.

Ngunjiri decided not to pursue the petition after President Uhuru Kenyatta asked him to withdraw.

"I understand your pain and action but we have an election to win," Uhuru said.

"I stand by the grievances in the #MaragaPetition but due to the current political environment I will not pursue it, for now," Ngunjiri said in a tweet on Friday.

Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju said the petition was a move by an individual, not the ruling coalition.
