Raila ahead of Uhuru six days to election - Infotrak

Raila Odinga has 48 per cent support and President Uhuru Kenyatta 49 per cent just six days to voting day, an Infotrak opinion poll has found.

The survey indicates Raila, who is NASA flag bearer, leads in Coast, Eastern, Western, Nyanza and Nairobi while Uhuru is top in Rift Valley, Central and North Eastern.

The two were followed by Abduba Dida at 0.3 per cent and Ekuru Aukot at 0.1 per cent while two per cent of those surveyed said they were undecided.

The presidential debate was limited to Uhuru and Raila as the other candidates had not commanded the required minimum support of five per cent.

Uhuru skipped the debate, allowing the Opposition leader an opportunity to detail his plans should he become president.

Infotrak also found there will be a straight first round win for either one of the top two candidates.

Jubilee party and the National Super Alliance have been campaigning across the country for the election that will take place on August 8.

"The undecided will determine the outcome. There's no possibility of a run-off," Infotrak CEO Angela Ambitho said when the poll results were released on Tuesday.

Ambitho said the poll revealed a dead-hit between Uhuru and Ruto, which can only be unlocked by voter turnout and the undecided lot.

The poll was conducted on July 27-31 and involved 5,000 people sampled from the 47 counties.

It had a +/-1.4 margin of error and a 95 per cent degree of confidence
