Rutto takes NASA campaigns to Nakuru as Jubilee storms his backyard

Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto will be leading NASA campaigns in Nakuru on Friday as President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto take Jubilee campaigns to his backyard.

Rutto is expected to visit Mauche, Njoro, Keringet and Kuresoi sub-counties to galvanise votes for the Opposition ahead of the August 8 polls.\

Meanwhile, Uhuru and Ruto will kick off campaigns in Chemanar, before heading off to Sigor.

They are also expected in Sotik, Kaplong and Chebole, after which they will wind up the tour in the Governor's Bomet town.

NASA and Jubilee are fighting for votes in the Rift Valley region as it would sway the outcome of the election.

The Deputy President has had a long-standing rivalry with the Bomet Governor that threatens Jubilee's ability to consolidate support in the South Rift area.

During a recent visit to Nakuru, Uhuru asked residents to ignore Rutto, terming him ungrateful.

Uhuru said Rutto would not have become governor in 2013 were it not for Jubilee's support.

Speaking in Olenguruone town, Uhuru said Rutto has kicked them instead of reciprocating by backing their re-election.

Rutto is a key critic of the Jubilee administration and recently joined the NASA coalition as the fifth principal.

But supporters of the Bomet county boss said Rutto is the one who popularised the DP's URP party, thus amassing votes for Uhuru.

Jubilee woman rep candidate Liza Chelule said Rutto is welcome in Nakuru but should not circulate propaganda.
