Even as South Sudan descends into another possible bloodbath, Dear World photographer Robert Fogarty spent sometime in the country and captured the people's aspirations.
The photos taken in Juba capture civilians' experiences since the outbreak of the conflict and what their hopes, fears and aspirations are.
The people were captured writing messages on their bodies and those of their children.
"Bury our differences not our hope", "Violence never again", "Time to forgive", read some of the messages.
The writings are a powerful visual reminder of the hope the people of South Sudan still have of a better future.
Machar, a former rebel leader, became vice president under a deal to end a two-year civil war. The war began in December 2013 after Kiir sacked Machar as vice president.
The fear is that the fresh fighting will return the country to the war and result in further instability.
Fresh violence broke out on Thursday and Friday between troops loyal to Kiir and soldiers who support Machar.
At least 272 people, including 33 civilians, died in fighting in the capital Juba,as heavy gunfire erupted again in parts the city.
