WEEP NOT By Alex Burton

Weep not my dear child,
the moments I went through were far from mild.
Sing a song and make me glad,
though far I'll reckon my days of lad.
Hold the fort and grow up strong,
honour your mother and may wisdom in you throng.
My picture's on the wall I hope you smile,
and say daddy walked an extra mile.

Weep not my dear mother,
I know you're broken besides my father.
I remember the days of your cane lashing,
and your fond pat when in upright standing.
Say a prayer and read the psalm,
throw the soil and place a palm.

Weep not my old man,
I made you the envy of the kingship clan.
I inclined myself to your structured ways,
I follow the same with the sunset rays.
You blessed my yacht and told me to sail,
I made you proud I never failed.

Weep not my soul mate,
I know it's soon but that's with fate.
I said I do never to part,
only now my breadth from me depart.
From now you'll journey a maiden path,
let peace prevail no room for wrath.
I'll forever treasure your touch and hold,
and linger on words I never told.
Even with this hooting owl,
your countenance always blessed my soul.

Weep not my gallant brethren,
I pray your valour with time will strengthen.
Tell the king I've paid my price,
with courage and strength not chances of dice.
As they shoot 21 let my epitaph read
"He made his country and loved ones proud".
