Nekesa, my love

I wrote a letter to Nekesa,
But Nekesa never replied.
She said my handwriting was bad,
And clicked her tongue when I smiled.

I took a flower to Nekesa,
But Nekesa's feeling was cold.
She threw the flower on the floor,
And chased me out of their door.

I made a beaded chain for Nekesa,
But she said "I hate that toy."
When I went to the forest to enjoy,
I saw it on the neck of another boy.

I gave my heart to Nekesa,
But she said I don't have money.
Her lover was the age of my granny,
I told myself "that's not funny!"

I gave my bed to Nekesa,
When she came to seek shelter in my hut.
She told me her soul has been hurt,
Her lover was no where to me found.

I will share my meals with Nekesa,
I told her I will raise her child.
Even if I am not the real dad,
I will work hard and make them proud.
