Grandpa Records CEO Refigah Announces Retirement

When it comes to entertainment, former musician Refigah has seen it all.

From his demo Cds being tossed to the side, fans hating him first then loving him later to starting a successful record label that has seen top artists in Kenya hope to join or work with, the Grandpa founder has had a wild ride in his two decades in the entertainment industry.

And so, when he'll be celebrating his 19 years in the business, Refigah will also be announcing his retirement.Grandpa records will be also celebrating 6 years of running and churning top hits.

The celebration will see all its members perform and screening of Refigah's journey, from the once young ignored artist from Kibera to the father of one now who owns a label estimated to be worth sh 42 million.Key entertainment personalities are also expected to give speeches on his journey.

Currently, only a hand full of active artists in Kenya have hit this milestone.Producers like Tedd Josiah and artists such as Abbas Kubaff and Nazizi are a few names that might be eclipsing the 20 year mark and still churning new material that is relevant. Most from that era are now irrelevant to this Instagram generation.

This however won't be the first time the CEO has retirement coming form his mouth. In 2006, Refigah officially announced that he was retiring as a recording artist, to converge his focus in getting the Grandpa staple off. The rest is history.

This year we have seen also comedy guru, Churchill, celebrate 15 years in comedy, a celebration that had him share his rags to riches story and other major entertainment names share how he has revolutionized comedy in Kenya.

For Refigah, it seems it might just have the same ruminant feel considering the two started just less than four years apart.
