THIS IS WHY MANY UGANDANS ARE MAD AT THESE CELEBRATED MUSICIANS!
Ugandan celebrated singers Chameleone, Radio&Weasel Juliana Kanyomozi and Bebe Cool are among the many artists that have received thorough criticism from fans lately after they merged to drop a pro-Museveni track dubbed 'Tubonga Nawe'.
When several Ugandan artistes accepted the invite to dine with the president so many people didn't take it lightly calling the musicians myopic and so many other things.
"30 years of museveni and nrm has given uganda nothing but a generation of selfish, greedy, money hungry and docile people, that cannot stand for anything. It's amazing that in museveni´s uganda, thieves, murderers, prostitutes and low life artistes like these ones are the new role models…our country need change!!" a comment on the video reads.
"I don't see any reason to why the artists should be limited from appraising m7 and the NRM government, they r Ugandans hence do share equal rights like any other Ugandan as per freedom of choice. Big ups our artists, Indeed the music industry has thrived in the NRM regime with the peaceful environment favoring u to hold shows and concerts to the latest hours of the night…don't see why u shouldn't appraise Mzee," reads another.
It was this outrage that made Jose Chameleone come out and address people's criticism
"I have always wondered why we Lug behind as Uganda yet all East Africans and Africa as a whole is moving forward. We have to put important things before but we chose to put our wishes ahead yet wishes won't light your way. Now I see you people making a big Deal out of the song and Honor we shared at a State artiste Dinner last Friday." he said.
He further went to ask whether his opinion is subject to oppression
"Why do you think your opinion is mine and why do you want to subject me to your opinion??? When are we going to Mind our own businesses? it's so little to dwell on . Chameleone concluded with words of wisdom, 'Find solutions and move forward. VOTE the leader you want DONT make everybody chose your Mind.
Why justify your right by taking away mine??? I am a public figure Yes. BUT does my Deed deserve Calvary? I knelt down to ask the Leader Give us an ear we have been Hungry for. Whilst some Do the same for Witchcraft and Hope." he lashed back.
It's no secret, like in Kenya, Ugandan musician also hunt and pray for campaign money and endorsements.
Several other Ugandan musicians are targeting campaign money and Phina Mugerwa has already released a pro NRM song too.
