Machakos Senator Muthama Charged For 'Kula Mawe' Phrase, during Uhuru park Cord rally!

Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has been arraigned in court to answer incitement to violence charges for his utterances during a CORD rally at Uhuru Park on September 23, 2015.
The prosecution, on Tuesday, October 13, told court that the senator uttered words during the rally that indicated that it was desirable to bring death and physical injury to persons in Kenya.
Prosecutors translated Muthama's alleged inciting words from Kiswahili to:"From Friday next week, if teachers will have not been paid nobody will go to work and whoever goes shall be stoned".
Johnstone Muthama, who appeared before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo, denied the charges and was released on KSh100,000 cash bail.
The case will be heard on February 16, 2016.
The senator had unsuccessfully tried to block his prosecution arguing that Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery had no mandate to direct the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko to charge him.
Cord co-principal and Bungoma Senator had already defended Muthama saying that "kula mawe" did not necessarily mean that he called for stoning of teachers who went back to work.
