Ghanaian Rapper Sarkodie Reveals Why He Doesn't Rap In English! His Reasons Are Valid

Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo popularly known as Sarkodie (29) has explained the reason why he does not rap in English.

The rapper uses Twi language in his lyrics, and he feels "it sounds real" when he raps in Twi than English. Twi is the most widely spoken language in Ghana.

"As a poet, I wouldn't like to dilute my message," Sarkodie told Sirius XM in America during an Interview recently. "I want to keep it as it is.I would rather want six people to feel the music than to impress thousands so I will keep it how i want to keep it. The way you heard New guy and you loved it, that's same way I do to Africa."

The one time BET Award winner (2012), Sarkodie added that although he raps in Twi and Africa don't speak Twi throughout, but still he was rated as one of the top 5 best emcees of all time.

"Some speak French, some speak English but then if they rate me as one of the top 5 best emcees of all time, that should tell you something."

If Sarkodie has produced a lot of good songs that have earned him plaudits from music fans around the world using the language that many don't understand, what is the secret behind his success?

"I know you won't understand what I'm saying so what I do is I go with delivery and timing, good timing that sounds good to the ear if you listen to it". Said Sarko.

This proves that music is a universal language, and any artist can win over number of fans from different parts of the world by using any language.
