Gender violence is still one of the key problems faced by women in relationships (men too) upto this day and age.It can happen to anyone,regardless of what they do or their social standing.Point in case,popular American pop singer Rihanna was beaten up by her boyfriend Chris Brown and a story close to home was that of Anne Kiguta who revealed that her boyfriend beat her up so badly while she was at KTN and she had to use make up to cover her bruises but she eventually left for the sake of her daughter.
Now another Tv anchor has come out to reveal this dark secret.The beautiful and curvecious Ebru Tv news anchor Kamene Goro confessed to one of the leading entertainment websites in Kenya that her first boyfriend beat her up terribly.
Kamene went on to say that she reported the matter to the police station in order to make sure that he knew that it was not okay for him to hit her or any other woman for that matter.
Since this sad and fateful incident she does not encourage gender violence nor have any tolerance towards it.She reckons that there are other ways to solve issues in a relationship other than beatings and that violence has never been the answer to any problem.
"Women should take a stand,submission is is okay but social injustice is not allowed.Women should be respected as we are not there by default,"She added.
Speaking out about such painful pasts is brave and someone somewhere then takes up courage to leave an abusive relationship because there is now a light at the end of the tunnel,someone else made it out.Telling the story helps others in the same situation,kudos Kamene and all the others who have opened up and spoken up against gender violence.
