MY TAKE:GLORIFIED SOCIALITES HERE,SOCIALITES EVERYWHERE...HERE IS A DOSE OF THE TRUTH!
Yesternight I followed the social media war of the year into the wee hours of the night between one Huddah Monroe and Joe Muchiri. The blows were punched with every post on Instagram and tweet,so viscious but at the same time a mind opener.
Huddah posted a no ordinary post on her Instagram last night, infact it was a confession on how she lives her life as a socialite. The meme photo pictured her and her sponsor (an older man who is her provider) or lets say the modern day sugar daddy.
Joe Muchiri lashed out at her for this.Putting into perspective the fact that the media,I being one of them and the society as a whole has glorified this modern age 'prostitution' rather than celebrate hard working women in Kenya as well as the world over.
The insults aside, the wake of the new crop of young women titled 'socialites' is the sad reality of the life we are living. This has become the way of life for the likes of Huddah Monroe,Vera Sidika,Corazon Kwamboka and many others in Kenya not to mention the likes of Kim Kardashian in the United States.
I don't know what the ex-BBA housemate intentions were when she posted the photo.Maybe she thought it amusing that somebody's father or grandfather is her financier or wanted to show the wannabes how it goes down or was it to mock women who till and sweat for their money without necessarily having to sleep with anyone.
Its heartbreaking to see every other young woman especially those in their university years doing everything wrong. They have this idea that just because they have a pretty face, have a nice figure,a well rounded bottom and flat stomachs they are models. They then go out to professional photographers studios to take semi nude and nude photos in the hopes that they will break the internet, making them famous. After which the sponsorships bookings will come in and before we all know it they have it all! No,scratch that a couple of bills in the bank, expensive bags, clothes, shoes, hair, cars, travelling to Dubai and taking photos for the gram for all to see is not all! Material wealth is not all human beings were created for dear socialites.
This sick notion has to stop!! Its not cool is not anything but disgusting.Parading the fact that one sells her body to live a life that is not her own is SHAMEFUL,DISGUSTING and a DISGRACE to womanhood. You can atleast save us from the horrible truth instead of showing us the fact that you have sponsors like you are so proud and like its the another wonder of the world!
I mean,if you ask me,I certainly do not want my sister or daughter or friend or any other woman to follow in the footsteps of the socialite, many a times we the media have glorified their positions in our society not bearing in mind the kind of toll that it is taking to shape the mindsets of young women not only in Kenya but the world as well.
Yes money, cars, clothes, shoes, traveling are good things but should one surely find the easy way out of sleeping with a man old enough to be her father or even older to get this money? What happened to good old working hard, starting small and making it big in the end? What will these socialites tell their children about their lives in their 20s? If they ever have kids at all in the first place? And what of God? Don't they fear God ? Is it written anywhere in the bible that this right? What of this man's family?
Being a 'socialite' for this day and age is not a way of life! Its a way of death! Am not sorry to say that karma is a bitch and for this you will pay! Who knows if HIV/AIDS is beckoning,STDs or the cries of this man's family who is sponsoring your trips abroad are out to get you?
Last night Capital Fm producer Joe Muchiri was spot on and I support his sentiments fully! Hate it or like it,this is the plain truth even if it was put in vulgar language its the truth nonetheless.
If you cant change, stop showing us your dirty way of life, stop corrupting the minds of young girls.Make money yes,but not this way.We are free to do whatever we want with our bodies but this? No!
With that said am done, there is freedom of speech after all.
