Residents of Kihiihi Town Council on Sunday turned up in hundreds to celebrate 100 years since the Christianity advent in their area.

The colorful event was presided over by President Yoweri Museveni, who was welcomed by the area MP and former Prime Minister Hon Amama Mbabazi.

Mbabazi was also the event’s chairman organizing committee.

From the wild cheering they got, both men seemed to claim massive support from the crowd that was poised to exploit the political bit of the duo’s encounter; the first since December 15 last year when Mbabazi was relegated as the ruling party MP.

Speaking at the event Mbabazi, sarcastically said he was “still around for some more years.”  He noted: “I am going to be here for quite some time; may be until I am 100 years.”

“Well, it might not be easy, but I will keep trying, because I feel I still have a lot of energy in me.  People will not say I didn’t try,” added Mbabazi as the crowd cheered wildly.

Mbabazi is believed to be nursing presidential ambitions, though he is yet to acknowledge this, only promising to announce his stance at the right time.

Perhaps sensing a veiled a statement therein, Museveni on taking the podium hit right back at the former NRM Secretary General: “I hear Mbabazi wants to stick around, till he is 100 years. What’s the hustle? When my time comes I will go!”

Museveni at the event announced plans to have the road leading to the district and extension of power connection.

He was also a Bible by the Kinkiizi Diocese Bishop as a gift. Preaching at the celebrations, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda His Eminence Stanley Ntagali called for peace and harmonious living.
