Once upon a time a great artist by the name Luciano Pavarotti said ” a beautiful voice does not just enchanting but rather soothing and is the key that unlocks happiness”. Indeed that is what i felt after hearing the song ”Kiss Kiss” by the all boy group Nairobeez, this band have not just created a great song but rather a blend of African soulful melodies with a touch of urban and blues sweetly refined and spiced with word play and that is not out of the ordinary as the group is also involved in spoken word. ”Kiss kiss” is has a great fusion of instrumentals that makes it feel African but yet hippy and youthful that is not just bound to elicit admiration for the band but also shows how adventurous and creative they are.
The key to happiness in the song is unlocked by the sweet word play used in it, indeed as Pavarotti would have said ”no tune can be perfect without a little experimentation”, and Nairobeez have experimented in combining word with hippy urban music accompanied with African beats and that truly shows how ”Kiss Kiss” can cement itself as a great song not just at the home but also the popular club scene. The humor incorporated in the song acts to liven it up and give it aura of fun and playfulness that makes the listener captivated from the start of the song up to its ending.
The only downside in the song is that the lyrics are shorter apart from the catchy chorus it leaves the song to lean on the strength of the beats and soulful wordplay that basically uplifts it and makes it worthwhile to listen to. And to borrow the Pavarotti mantra indeed happiness is found in a beautiful voice and Nairobeez just provided that happiness in the song ”Kiss Kiss”.
