The High Court has summoned DPP Keriako Tobiko over the saga surrounding last year's disappearance of Embu Speaker Justus Mate. Tobiko will be expected to explain why police detective Nicholas Muriuki was charged with kidnapping Mate, without evidence. Justice Mumbi Ngugi issued an order for the DPP to appear in person after rejecting his attempt to file written submissions outlining the reasons. Muriuki filed the case, saying his rights were violated by the state. He was arrested last May and charged before Milimani court with kidnapping Mate.
