The rise of the so-called Islamic State dominated headlines in 2014, and trained the eyes of the world back on the Middle East. In 2014, Africans suffered dozens of deadly terror attacks by groups either allied with Islamic State leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi or using similarly bloody tactics.
