10 QUALITIES OF A GOOD SHAMPOO

In the course of my teaching career, I have always stressed on the importance of QUALITY as the basis of a good product invention. Quality is the hallmark of product likeability and the epitome of brand positioning.

This article will be found useful by the hundreds of researchers, students and formulators who visit this site every week.

Below is a list of ten qualities of a good hair shampoo.

-Good Texture
-High Viscosity
-Good detergency
-Good Conditioning effect
-High Foaming
-Opaque effect
-Nice smell
-Healing effect
-Nice Color
-Humidifying effect

Texture
A good shampoo must be creamy. This makes the user to get reassured of its richness. Texturizers come in handy when developing a creamy smooth shampoo.

Viscosity
Thick shampoo is rated highly than thin shampoo. A thick shampoo exudes fullness of body and adds value to the product. Thickeners used at recommended user-rates will achieve this.

Good detergency
A top quality shampoo must be able to suspend dirt particles and dissolve grease from hair strands without stripping the scalp of its natural oils. Careful choice and incorporation of detergents when crafting your shampoo will ensure this.

Conditioning Effect
The shampoo must be able to make the hair manageable by straitening the strands and making them soft to allow combing without tangling or breaking.

Foaming
Foaming is formation of suds. This tricks the user that it has more cleaning power than non-foaming shampoo. High foaming shampoos have higher approval rates and fetch more money. Isotpe-35™ imparts this quality with ease.

Opaque effect
Pearlescent shampoos are more likely to fly off the shelves than dull looking ones. Often, pearly shampoos are associated with purity and higher class of brand. Pearlescence can be achieved by addition of glycol distearate to your shampoo.

Nice Scent
Nobody would like a shampoo with dull or unattractive smell. Good scents mask the odor of some ingredients used in making your shampoo. A nice smelling shampoo is attractive. Rosewood, Stomer fein and many other fragrances are a good investment on this.

Color
Good color choice for your shampoo promotes the aesthetic value of your product. Dull colors are a complete turn-off even if your shampoo has all of the above qualities.

Humidifying properties.
Often achieved by adding humidifiers, shampoos that leave your hair feeling moist fetch more value than the drying ones. Dry hair is difficult to comb. It also breaks easily!

Healing Effect
Not all shampoos prevent or heal dandruffs, however, if some ingredients with anti-dandruff effects are incorporated, the shampoo will always have an added value.
