- I don't know about you but I think all people and all jobs are necessary. Having worked on the back of a garbage truck when I graduated high school prior to entering college, the importance of that job cannot be minimized. In fact, I wish the so-called leaders in New York City, Detroit, Newark, Oakland CA, San Francisco, and Los Angeles ought to pay more attention to this very necessary function.
- The news all over the TV and newspapers are touting the recently announced "Help is on the Way" Tour of major cities (all democrat) by the President Biden entourage to promote his $2.0 Trillion Dollar "American Rescue Plan a/k/a Covid Relief Plan". The bill was signed by the President last week. Why is a tour necessary?
- H.R.1 is now on the table. I wonder if people are paying attention to this blatant disregard to the Constitution and what, if ratified and passed into law, it will mean for our Republic. Here is a news flash….it will escalate our nation on a downward spiral to socialism and autocratic rule, something I never thought I would see in my lifetime.
- First, it was J.K. Rawling, then it was Dr. Seuss, the Muppets, then Dumbo, Pepe LePew, what's next? Popeye & Olive Oil, Mickey Mouse? By the way, I may be wrong but didn't the Nazis ban books at the beginning of the Third Reich? Didn't they censor films? Are there any similarities here with what Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube have done here in the U.S.?
- You know, a citizen of America will volunteer to cross oceans and mountain ranges to fight for democracy, but according to our current leaders in Washington, that same citizen is apparently unwilling to cross the street to vote in a national election. That person needs mail-in balloting; he or she demands it. Our leaders tell us that Americans need to show their driver's licenses and be subjected to detailed background checks to buy a rifle or handgun, but no personal identification or proof of citizenship is required to vote. I'm struggling to figure that one out. Later, I will likely turn my attention to why it is important to allow criminals in prison to vote.
- There is an existential crisis facing America but, with respect to Presidents Obama, Biden, and that miscreant John Kerry, it ain't climate change. President Biden once again, true to form, opened up our southern border, in a not too subtle slap in the face of President Trump, and extended a welcome to any and all illegal immigrants, many of whom are unaccompanied children. These people are being released into America, untested for Covid, in the middle of a pandemic. More than that, they are not just people from Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, San Salvador but also Iran, Syria, Yemen, North Korea, China, Russia…enemies of the United States They are infiltrating our country. These illegal immigrants typically are young and male. They will add to the surging crime rates in our cities. And I am not persuaded by Speaker Nancy Pelosi's comments that Joe Biden's policies are probably related to his "love for children". Whatever happened to the most important role of a leader, to protect his country's citizens?
- With racial conflict as sharp as it has been in decades, with our political parties at sword points, with the culture war and cancel culture mindset raging unabated, with mobs tearing down statues and monuments to our nation's founders, exactly what problems will be solved by an unstoppable and unrelenting wave of illegal immigrants crossing our border into our country because, my friends, this is a blueprint for the destruction of our Republic. Yes, indeed, this is the existential crisis of our time.
- I stopped for a coffee from Dunkin' Donuts yesterday. I overheard two women talking about Grace Church School who have begun teaching young elementary school children to stop using terms like "mom" and "dad" or "mother" and "father" as they are really "not necessary". Instead, students are encouraged to use "guardian" or "parent" when referring to their parents. Forgive me, but what the hell is happening? Have we lost our minds? Why in God's name would we as citizens ever countenance this nonsense? If we turn a blind eye to this, it will continue until the minds of our children are poisoned completely.
- In 2015, the University of Chicago released a statement affirming the centrality of free speech in education. Six years later, only 81 of the 4,000 plus higher education centers, colleges, and universities have adopted or endorsed it. That's not much of a participation rate. Today, some 200 scholars and professors across the nation launched the Academy of Academic Freedom Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting back against "Cancel Culture" efforts to silence faculty targeted by the "woke syndrome".
- A word about Beijing, the chosen site for the 2022 Winter Olympics next February. I cannot fathom how Beijing was awarded this recognition. China's reign of terror against the Uyghurs, Tibetan Nationalists, and Chinese, Catholic, Christian, and Buddhists is a matter of record. Thousands are prisoners subjected to torture and inhumane conditions across China. The stadiums built for the 2008 Olympic Games also held in China were actually used for public executions. Surely, the Olympic Committee could move the games….they have a great reason to do so since Covid sprang forth from Wuhan, China, and find a more suitable country more in keeping with the mission of the Olympic Games. If they do not do so, I pray that America will boycott these games. It is the right thing to do. I know that is a terrific hardship on our athletes, but sometimes it's necessary to do the right thing.
- On the subject of climate change, here is a news flash for you. Climate Change is NOT settled science. It is far from settled science. America's preoccupation with this so-called existential threat is tantamount to creating and maintaining hysteria in the population. When was the last objective debate you heard between those scientists telling us we have "only ten years left" and those who say "there is no crisis". Shouldn't we have such debates before we chart a course for the future that has us once again bearing the cost burden for the entire world as will surely happen as a direct consequence of rejoining the Paris Accord? Consider this: John Kerry, Biden's Climate Czar, says "cooperation from China on climate change is critical". Perhaps John did not mention that to Beijing. President Xi Jinping won world-wide plaudits last year by pledging to make China neutral by 2060. But he then authorized the construction of more than three times the new coal-fired power capacity plants last year than was built everywhere else in the entire world. Any new deal with China on climate change will result in Communists putting hundreds of billions of dollars into their pockets as they keep building coal-fired plants.
