NASA has moles in IEBC who gave evidence for petition, claims Kutuny

NASA has moles in IEBC who supplied it with evidence to back its petition, claims Cherangani MP Joshua Kutuny.

After the August 8 general election, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati announced President Uhuru Kenyatta floored NASA candidate Raila Odinga by more than 1.4 million votes.

Raila rejected the county, saying he won and that there were many irregularities.

He filed a petition at the Supreme Court and after days of hearings, Chief Justice David Maraga announced a historic ruling in Africa, that cancelled Uhuru's victory.

Maraga ordered a repeat election and IEBC set the October 17 date.

Campaigns are underway but Kutuny wants to know how NASA obtained information from IEBC yet they claimed they had no access.

"After doing in-depth investigations and following the behaviour of IEBC, I believe NASA had an upper hand in discrediting IEBC. [They may] have had moles," he told a press briefing on Thursday.

Kutuny said the moles are still at the commission and that they gave the Opposition documentary evidence.

"NASA appeared to know how malpractices were done, where and when the electoral anomalies were done [ and details on] fake ballot papers," he said.

"The electoral anomalies cited by NASA were reported in NASA strongholds. Why not Jubilee strongholds?"

During their submissions at the Supreme Court, the Opposition team said IEBC made deliberate mistakes.

Raila's lawyers said the results declared were not based on evidence and cited the mismatch of results in Forms 34B and the IEBC online portal.

James Orengo and Otiende Amollo outlined "glaring errors" in IEBC forms that led to an allegedly rigged election.

Orengo said the forms issued to them and the Supreme Court do not match with their respective constituencies.

"The forms lack the security features and serialisation required and the way the forms are organised is not the way they should be," Orengo said.
