IEBC denies having crisis meeting after Supreme court ruling

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has denied claims that its Commissioners had a crisis meeting on Saturday to craft the way forward in light of the Supreme Court determination that nullified the August 8 presidential election.

"For the records, we have not had any scuffles or crisis meetings as reported. All is well, save for the fake news," The Commission tweeted on Sunday.

This is after a section of the media reported that the electoral body met.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga have engaged in heated exchanges over the commission's capability to conduct the repeat Presidential polls.

IEBC Chair had last week said the Commission will meet to assess the ruling by the Supreme Court on Friday.

However, DP William Ruto on Saturday castigated Opposition leaders for plotting to oust the current IEBC officials on allegations of malpractice in the elections.

The Supreme Court, in a decision of four judges against six, said the election was not conducted in accordance with the law.
