A song for the hyena we empowered

He stood in a pool of water and watched us die of thirst.
He ran away from the village and deserted us at our worst.
He returned during elections and promised us heaven like the past.
We were fools, we were warthogs, we still gave him our trust.

We are singing in anguish today,
Coz the hyena has left us again.
He snores as we perish in vain,
May thunder strike him when it rains!

When we applied for vacancies in his office,
He shortlisted the members of his tribe.
But still we heard of a crisis,
That those who were chosen had to bribe.

We are singing in anguish today,
Coz the hyena has left us again.
He snores as we perish in vain,
May thunder strike him when it rains!

We've heard he's coming to campaign,
When he comes we shall rant and complain!
We shall get him out of his reign!
But he'll bribe us and get our votes again.

We shall sing in anguish tomorrow,
Coz the hyena will fool us again.
He will dance at our songs of sorrow,
Will thunder strike him when it rains?
