Oil firm may displace Kerio Valley locals

MORE than 2,000 residents will be affected by oil exploration in Kerio Valley. The exploration is being carried out by Tullow Oil Company. Some of the families have opposed the exploration and demanded that the government give them title deeds so that they are compensated for the area taken over by the company. Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos has directed the county Lands board to resolve the disputes. Residents led by Patrick Mutwol have asked the governor to speed up the process.
