A driver yesterday denied trying to kill his wife by setting her ablaze. Peter Njine, 37, was accused of dousing his wife Tabitha Waweru with petrol, setting her ablaze and locking her inside their house. The offence allegedly occurred in Pipeline estate, Nairobi, on February 14. Neighbours came to Waweru's rescue, broke the door and put out the fire. Waweru was taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital and transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital. Njine was released on Sh200,000 bail. The case will be heard on March 23.
