Media Manipulation, Nunes Demands Answers, Pelosi's Patriotism, Goodbye Billy Graham

Goodbye Billy Graham
by Gary Bauer, Contributing Author: Media Manipulation - The teenagers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, have gone through tremendous trauma. We should continue to pray for them and their families.

President Trump held a listening session at the White House today with students, teachers and parents from Parkland, Newtown and Columbine.

Sadly, some of the teenagers who survived the terrible Parkland shooting are being exploited by the left and used to shut off debate. As they barnstorm the talk shows and press lawmakers for more gun control, one of their oft-repeated lines is, "Do you love children or do you love guns?"

The answer is easy. Of course, we love children.

That is why we want security guards with guns at our schools in order to protect them, just like we have guards at banks to protect other valuables. And that is why we want the right to have firearms in our homes in this increasingly Godless society.

What astonishes me is that the left would dare to ask whether we love the Second Amendment more than our children. They are the ones who clearly love their imaginary right of abortion more than they love the hundreds of thousands of innocent babies destroyed every year.

When they wipe the blood off their hands, I might be willing to talk about guns. I might even give up my gun if they give up their abortions.

But whatever side of this debate they are on, a wise society does not allow 16 year-olds to dictate policy.

In addition, I am sure there must be teenagers in Parkland, Florida, who support the Second Amendment. Presumably those enrolled in the Junior ROTC program support the Second Amendment. But the media are not interested in giving those survivors a voice in this debate.

Polls show the country is narrowly divided when it comes to a major demand of the left -- banning so-called "assault weapons." Yet listening to the media, it appears to be unanimous in Parkland.

Nunes Demands Answers - Rep. Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, has launched "Phase 2" of his investigation into the Obama Administration's abuse of our national intelligence agencies. Nunes sent a letter to more than 20 current and former government officials demanding to know exactly what they knew about the infamous Steele dossier.

Fox News reports that former Obama CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former FBI Director James Comey are among the officials who received the Nunes letter.

Some officials have already made statements about the dossier either during congressional testimony or in public. For example, Brennan has denied knowing anything about it. Their responses to Nunes could trigger perjury charges or open up additional avenues of investigation.

We will keep you posted.

Pelosi's Patriotism - Ronald Reagan once joked, "Republicans believe every day is the Fourth of July, but Democrats believe every day is April 15th." Apparently, Nancy Pelosi isn't laughing. She lashed out again yesterday at President Trump's tax cuts, calling them "unpatriotic."

The left considers something patriotic not if it helps the country, but if it helps the government. In Pelosi's view, the tax cuts are taking away money from the government. And that, in her view, is Armageddon. She also dismissed the big bonuses millions of workers have received as "crumbs."

The American people, however, see things a bit differently. According to the latest New York Times poll, a majority of the country (51%) now supports Trump's tax reform plan. That's up from 37% in December. Even support among Democrats has more than doubled.

As more and more Americans see the benefits of bigger paychecks and bonuses, they realize the world isn't ending and those "crumbs" are helping to pay bills.

Voters have a big choice ahead of them in 259 days. If her party wins the mid-term elections, Pelosi has promised to repeal the Trump cuts.

Remember that in November!

Goodbye, Billy Graham - America's pastor, Reverend Billy Graham, passed away this morning. He was 99 years old.

Graham was among the modern world's greatest evangelists. He met with every American president since Harry Truman and led millions to faith in Jesus Christ.

Graham was best known for his Crusades, massive outdoor gatherings with tens of thousands of people from all walks of life. Graham conducted more than 400 crusades in 185 countries. His most famous crusade took place in New York City's Madison Square Garden. It ran for 16 weeks and was attended by more than two million people.

What a tremendous life, lived to the fullest in service to God!

President Ronald Reagan once said, "Billy Graham's contribution to the well-being of mankind is literally immeasurable. Millions of lives across the globe have been enriched because of his good work."

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., considered Graham a great friend, saying: "Had it not been for the ministry of my good friend Dr. Billy Graham, my work in the Civil Rights Movement would not have been as successful as it has been."

I know Billy Graham was incredibly proud of all of his children, including his son Franklin Graham, who continued his father's ministry through Samaritan's Purse and his leadership of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. I am grateful that Franklin Graham continues to be a prophetic voice in America, warning of the dangers of radical Islam and calling our country back to God.

Speaking of his own death, Graham once said:

"Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don't you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God."

Please join Carol and me in praying for the Graham family, and for a revival of faith across our country.
